Liquidity (market)

The property of tradeability. Defined in terms of the spread between the buying and the selling price, and the size and frequency with a security can be traded. Less liquid instruments generally offer a higher yield to compensate for lower liquidity – this is known as ‘the illiquidity premium’. See mark-to-market.
